HS36 Cotopaxi National Park (1 day-daily)
Early departure. We'll drive south to Cotopaxi National Park along the striking
"Avenue of the Volcanoes". Cotopaxi (19347ft/5897m) is the highest
active volcano on earth and one of the most beautiful in Ecuador. We'll
have several hours to explore this outstanding area of natural beauty by
bike. A packed lunch will be provided. Bike ride through the forest and
the paramos (high plains)with their peculiar and unique vegetation and fauna.
Our car will take us up to the parking lot (4600m). From here a spectacular
downhill bike ride will take us to the Panamericana high- way where the
cycling trip ends.
A jeep is provided for the return to Quito.
HS37 Cotopaxi National Park (2 days - daily)
We'll set off early, driving south to Cotopaxi National Park. Cotopaxi
(19347ft/5897m) is the highest active volcano on earth. On the first day
we'll explore this outstanding area of natural beauty, whit its peculiar
and unique vegetation and fauna. By bike, after a well deserved rest,
we'll start whit an with an early view of majestic Cotopaxi on the second
day.
The bike tour will continue to the Inca cemetery with its spectacular
Tolas (Grave hills). From here we'll be taken to the parking lot (4600m)
by car. From this point we'll hike to the Volcano's refuge lodge (4800m),
and a short walk from here will take us to the nearest glacier, where
you will be able to enjoy broad views of magnificent landscape punctuated
by volcanoes.
Finally a spectacular down hill bike ride from the parking lot will take
us to the Panamericana highway, where we'll be picked up to return to
Quito.
